When KeepCup first launched in 2009 with the mission of eliminating single-use cups, the only alternatives were ceramic mugs and bulky thermoses. The poor usability and aesthetics of these products were barriers to customers and cafes adopting reusable espresso cups. With their bright, bold design and experience in busy cafes, KeepCup created a product for both the coffee maker and the coffee drinker. KeepCup carefully considers materials in design and has made conscious decisions about what to use and how. All raw materials are free of phthalates (BPA, BPS, BPF), including DEHP, lead and cadmium, and products are independently laboratory tested to confirm. 50% of the world's plastic production is used to make single-use packaging and less than 10% of household plastic packaging is recycled in the UK. KeepCup was created as a simple solution to a systemic problem - a durable, reusable cup that reduces waste and inspires positive change for those who use it.
