A tastier and healthier alternative to table salt

Salt of Hearts is a 100% natural organic product inspired by Mill & Mortar's desire to reduce the amount of salt we consume without sacrificing taste. Most of us love salt, but it's often not in the best interest of our health. Salt of Hearts contains less than 15% salt – the combination of flavors and textures of the other spices accentuate the salt.

The purpose of this mix is ​​that the selected flavor combinations give ideal proportions of the main tastes - sour, salty, sweet, hot, bitter and umami. Salt of Hearts was created in collaboration with Rasmus Bredahl, professional chef and co-author of the book Neurogastronomy - The Secret of the Perfect Meal.

Use Salt of Hearts as a final step instead of sprinkling salt on the dish - it tastes great on eggs, fish, steaks, salads, avocado dishes; can be used in a grinder or as table salt. The mix creates a sensation of salt in both its texture and taste.

In March 2018, Salt of Hearts won the Danish Organic Gold competition – the award is given by the Danish Organic Association, which is looking for the tastiest and most innovative organic products on the market.

Chef and co-author of Neurogastronomy (2016) Rasmus Bredahl approached Mill&Mortar with the idea of ​​creating a salt not in the standard sense of the word, but one based on neurogastronomy and satisfying not only the stomach but also the brain. The result is Salt of Hearts, the first neurogastronomic product.

"In practice, one can save salt by enhancing the other base flavors. If they are distinct and balanced, large amounts of salt are not needed to enhance the taste," says Rasmus Bredahl.
