A contemporary master woodcarver, Roman Klonek creates bold images that take on the aesthetics of retro comics, avant-garde propaganda posters, and Eastern European folklore. His colorful tales combine ancient craft with a pop culture vibe and are populated by a cast of hybrid creatures, both human and animal.
Roman was born in Katowice, Poland, and later moved to Germany. He has exhibited throughout Germany and in Los Angeles, London, Paris, and São Paulo, among others. He has had solo exhibitions in Berlin and Hong Kong, and participated in a group show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Yinchuan, China.
