What does it taste like?

The taste of long pepper is most similar to that of black pepper, although it is much more spicy and complex. This is because the long pepper is not so spicy that it drowns out the other flavor notes. Long pepper has a slightly burnt aroma, but also sweet notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom and ginger. This mix makes the spice extremely interesting to work with both savory and sweet dishes.
