DISCOVERING BARISTA OAT
Minor Figures was founded by three friends with a shared obsession for specialty coffee. Between them they’d co-founded KeepCup, played trumpet in Joss Stone’s band, sold skateboarding gear, and written a novel.
We launched with just one product, a carton of cold brew black coffee. With Green coffee sourced from Colombia, it was brewed in our East London microbrewery, where our products are still made today. The flavour profile was rich and naturally sweet, with tasting notes of biscuit, chocolate fudge, raisin, and cola.
IT ALL STARTED WITH COFFEE
Minor Figures products have always been designed to celebrate the passion and people behind every roast - from the farmers and processors to the roasters and baristas.
As we expanded our cold brew range to include latte and mocha, we searched for a dairy alternative that would pair perfectly with our favourite specialty roasts while also boasting the sustainability credentials we were looking for. When we couldn’t find the perfect fit, we decided to create it ourselves.
Eventually, Barista Oat was born. After seeing how beautifully it complemented espresso and magnified the tasting notes found in each roast profile, we realised we had created an incredible tool for coffee that we had to share with our friends in the specialty coffee space.
We launched Minor Figures Barista Oat in 2017 and it quickly became our signature product. Designed to be completely faithful to the original characteristics of every espresso it meets, it’s now used in specialty coffee shops, kitchens, and roasteries all over the globe.
